Night Unit Secretary – Med/Tele 3

About the role

The Night Unit Secretary provides essential clerical support to ensure smooth patient flow and a positive experience on a busy medical/telemetry unit. Working overnight, you act as the primary point of contact for patients, families, and staff, handling admissions, transfers, discharges, and communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage admit, discharge, and transfer functions for the unit.
• Handle reservation processing, phone calls, and call bells.
• Refer patient, family, and staff requests to appropriate personnel and ensure timely follow‑up.
• Serve as a Patient Experience Ambassador, adapting communication to the patient population.
• Assess EPIC chart reports to verify unit charges and utilization.
• Provide general clerical support to the interdisciplinary team and perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred experience in the medical or healthcare industry.
• Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and manage time effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data‑entry tools.
• Experience using EPIC electronic health record system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred).
