Learning & Development Trainer

About the role

The City of South Fulton is looking for a dynamic Learning & Development Trainer to design, deliver, and manage training programs that boost employee performance, strengthen leadership, and foster a culture of continuous learning across all departments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and facilitate instructor‑led, virtual, and blended training for all city staff.
• Assess training needs through surveys, interviews, performance data, and workforce analytics.
• Create training materials, presentations, job aids, manuals, and other learning resources.
• Maintain annual training calendars, employee training records, and monitor compliance with mandatory training.
• Evaluate program effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and performance outcomes.
• Support succession planning, workforce development, and leadership development initiatives.
• Assist with the implementation and administration of the learning management system and online learning platforms.
• Research industry trends and best practices, and prepare reports on participation and effectiveness.

Required profile

• Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
• Understanding of employee development, leadership training, and organizational development practices.
• Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective project management and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using learning management systems (LMS).
• Competence with presentation software.
