Laboratory Technical Specialist

About the role

Join BASF’s Performance Chemicals team as a Laboratory Technical Specialist, working on lubricant and fuel additive evaluation tests. The position is based on‑site in Cincinnati, Ohio, with occasional travel to Tarrytown, NY.

Key responsibilities

• Execute established and custom test procedures for lubricant and fuel additives.
• Prepare clear written reports communicating experimental findings.
• Assess technical data, flag unusual results, and investigate root causes.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve bench test equipment and lab utilities.
• Utilize Power BI and other digital tools to enhance laboratory efficiency.
• Support quality initiatives and collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Product Management.

Required profile

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 5+ years of lab testing experience with a B.S., 2–3 years with an M.S., or entry‑level experience with a Ph.D., preferably in lubricant or fuel testing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel monthly to New York.
