Extension Program Specialist III – Family & Community Health

About the role

The Family & Community Health Extension Program Specialist III provides leadership in planning, developing, and delivering educational outreach programs that support county‑based staff and serve the health needs of the community.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement training programs for county staff delivering Family & Community Health services.
• Analyze trends and situational data to guide program planning for 1890 county personnel and committees.
• Assist in creating in‑depth educational programs that address significant health problems and long‑range objectives.
• Provide technical assistance and develop subject‑matter training resources, publications, and outreach tools.
• Research, interpret, and disseminate credible educational information through reports, blogs, fact sheets, multimedia presentations, and curriculum.
• Utilize effective adult‑learning and group‑teaching methods for staff and customers.
• Maintain expertise in chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and emerging health issues.
• Represent PVAMU Extension at professional conferences, committees, and speaking engagements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership in extension education or community health programs.
• Experience developing training materials and delivering adult‑focused education.
• Ability to analyze data trends and translate findings into actionable program plans.
• Strong research skills and ability to produce clear, evidence‑based outreach content.
• Active participation in professional development activities and conferences.
