About the role

The Director of Philanthropy leads major and planned giving efforts for Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. This senior advancement role manages a portfolio of high‑value donors and aligns fundraising activities with the university’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 70‑90 major (>$25,000) and planned‑giving prospects and donors.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with alumni, friends, and other supporters.
• Solicit outright and deferred gifts to support the university, its colleges, and priority programs.
• Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising and stewardship strategies for assigned prospects.
• Collaborate closely with deans, faculty, and board members to integrate fundraising initiatives with academic goals.
• Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions.

Required profile

• Proven track record in major gifts and planned‑giving fundraising, preferably in higher education.
• Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with senior donors and institutional leaders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing a sizable donor portfolio and achieving fundraising targets.
• Commitment to advancing the university’s mission and strategic plan.
