About the role
The Director of Philanthropy leads major and planned giving efforts for Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. This senior advancement role manages a portfolio of high‑value donors and aligns fundraising activities with the university’s strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 70‑90 major (>$25,000) and planned‑giving prospects and donors.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with alumni, friends, and other supporters.
- Solicit outright and deferred gifts to support the university, its colleges, and priority programs.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising and stewardship strategies for assigned prospects.
- Collaborate closely with deans, faculty, and board members to integrate fundraising initiatives with academic goals.
- Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions.
Required profile
- Proven track record in major gifts and planned‑giving fundraising, preferably in higher education.
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with senior donors and institutional leaders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing a sizable donor portfolio and achieving fundraising targets.
- Commitment to advancing the university’s mission and strategic plan.
