About the role

The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join its Licensing Division. The role involves assisting licensing applicants through in‑person, phone, and email interactions while ensuring accurate processing of applications and payments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mathematical computations and process payments.
• Conduct clerical tasks such as data entry, record maintenance, and application processing under supervision.
• Verify records for accuracy and compliance with policies.
• Provide high‑volume customer service to licensing applicants in person and via phone.
• Assist applicants with outreach to other city agencies and facilitate inter‑agency communication.
• Respond to telephone calls, emails, and written correspondence, delivering clear applicant information.
• Attend seminars, meetings, and training sessions as required.
• Execute additional licensing tasks and adhere to division and agency policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
• Keyboard proficiency with a minimum typing speed of 100 keystrokes per minute.
• Professional demeanor, strong oral communication, organization, and self‑motivation.
• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.
