Controller – Finance Operations Leader

About the role

The company, a growing food services organization, is looking for a Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, treasury and financial planning. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will ensure accurate financial statements and support strategic decision‑making across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process.
• Oversee general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations and day‑to‑day accounting activities.
• Drive the annual budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning in partnership with business leaders.
• Manage treasury functions, cash management and banking relationships.
• Coordinate federal, state and local tax compliance and filings.
• Serve as primary liaison for external auditors and maintain robust internal controls.
• Develop and mentor accounting managers, supervisors and staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required or strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting standards and internal control frameworks.
• Proven experience managing audits, budgeting, forecasting and treasury functions.
• Experience in multi‑entity environments, preferably within agriculture, food manufacturing or distribution.
