Communications Instructor – Tarleton Today

About the role

Tarleton State University seeks a Tarleton Today Instructor in the Department of Communication Studies. The 10‑month, non‑tenure‑track position involves teaching undergraduate communication courses on the main campus in Stephenville, with the option to teach a summer session.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses in communications, both on‑site and online.
• Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Advise and mentor students on academic and career matters.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and university service activities.
• Potentially teach a 2‑month summer appointment (June 1 – July 31) at 50 % effort.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level.
• Ability to teach in a hybrid environment, using both face‑to‑face and online modalities.
