About the role
The Buyer I provides entry‑level purchasing support for the Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences teaching hospital at Texas A&M University. Working onsite in College Station, the role ensures timely acquisition of supplies, equipment and services needed for daily operations.
Key responsibilities
- Place orders with vendors and enter purchasing requisitions using AggieBuy or departmental credit cards.
- Process financial transactions, allocate costs, itemize reports and assign appropriate purchasing codes.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all state‑required purchase records.
- Generate and review purchasing reports to ensure correct allocations and compliance.
- Collaborate with internal departments to identify purchasing needs and resolve issues.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of related experience in procurement or purchasing preferred.
- Strong ability to multitask, work cooperatively and communicate effectively.
- Attention to detail and ability to provide exacting accuracy in all phases of work.
Required skills
- Proficiency with word processing applications.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
What we offer
- Competitive salary starting at $45,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
- Full‑time, Monday‑Friday schedule (8 am‑5 pm) onsite in College Station, TX.
