Buyer I – Entry Level Purchasing

About the role

The Buyer I provides entry‑level purchasing support for the Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences teaching hospital at Texas A&M University. Working onsite in College Station, the role ensures timely acquisition of supplies, equipment and services needed for daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Place orders with vendors and enter purchasing requisitions using AggieBuy or departmental credit cards.
• Process financial transactions, allocate costs, itemize reports and assign appropriate purchasing codes.
• Maintain accurate documentation for all state‑required purchase records.
• Generate and review purchasing reports to ensure correct allocations and compliance.
• Collaborate with internal departments to identify purchasing needs and resolve issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of related experience in procurement or purchasing preferred.
• Strong ability to multitask, work cooperatively and communicate effectively.
• Attention to detail and ability to provide exacting accuracy in all phases of work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word processing applications.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
