About the role
The Accounting Assistant III supports the university’s banking and cash operations, reconciling multiple bank accounts and providing essential accounting support under the supervision of a Financial Accountant III.
Key responsibilities
- Download and process reports from American Express, Chase Paymentech, CANOPY, PayPal, and other sources; prepare related journal entries.
- Perform banking functions such as stop payments, wire transfers, and positive‑pay verification; resolve credit‑card and ACH disputes.
- Prepare Excel spreadsheets for bank reconciliations (e.g., bank 21 and 117).
- Reconcile all local bank accounts and petty cash against the general ledger, including three‑way reconciliations.
- Submit annual unclaimed property reports and manage related logbooks.
- Enter USAS journal entry batches and maintain J and D batch logs.
- Manage Laserfiche access for the FUN Group and verify user lists annually.
- Assist with data entry during month‑end close and perform other assigned duties.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least four years of related experience in an accounting environment.
Required skills
- Microsoft Excel.
- Laserfiche document management system.
