VP - CIB Underwriting & Portfolio Management

About the role

Santander is seeking a Vice President to lead Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) underwriting and portfolio management. The role supports commercial lending teams by providing expertise in credit underwriting, structuring, servicing, and documentation for new and renewal credits.

Key responsibilities

• Act as lead underwriter, collaborating with bankers to prepare credit approval memos and recommendations aligned with bank policy.
• Conduct underwriting, structuring, and servicing reviews for assigned loan portfolios.
• Analyze financial statements, assess credit risk, monitor collateral, and determine appropriate loan structures and pricing.
• Manage and expand relationships with existing loan customers, ensuring high satisfaction.
• Prepare and deliver reporting on loan performance, past‑due items, documentation exceptions, portfolio profitability, and risk grades.
• Stay informed of market and financial trends affecting the portfolio and incorporate insights into risk assessments.
• Support special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required); Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 9 years of experience in credit underwriting, portfolio management, or related financial analysis.
• Strong analytical abilities with a proven track record of assessing credit risk and structuring complex loan transactions.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with bankers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
