Technical Support Consultant

About the role

The Technical Support Consultant will support the design and release of service upgrade kits and component substitutes for Vertiv products. This role bridges engineering, production, and field teams to ensure new upgrades are documented, prototyped, and ready for service deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design service upgrade kits and create component substitution plans.
• Produce detailed drawings, installation, and packaging instructions.
• Generate bills of materials (BOM) for new upgrade kits.
• Create and revise product documentation using CAD, Solid Edge, Agile EC, and PLM systems.
• Collaborate with production and field associates to build prototypes and provide guidance.
• Review and approve engineering changes in PD Cloud, acting as Change Originator and Change Analyst for Engineering Change Notices.
• Provide training and escalated support to the technical support team during kit releases.
• Support new product development for service readiness and participate in related projects.
• Interact daily with technical, field support teams, external partners, vendors, and suppliers to obtain quotes and required information.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a directly related degree; an associate degree with 4 years of experience may be considered.
• Strong planning, organizing, documentation, and communication abilities.
• Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to work across multiple functions.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD and Solid Edge.
• Experience with Agile EC and PLM systems (Oracle PLM a plus).
• Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to create bills of materials and manage engineering change notices.
• Familiarity with prototype building and documentation processes.
