System Administrator

About the role

Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association is looking for a proactive System Administrator to join a dedicated technology team. Reporting to the Technology Director, you will support and maintain the organization’s servers, networks, cloud services, and security tools.

Key responsibilities

• Administer physical and virtual enterprise server infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
• Maintain Hyper‑V environments, handling host configuration, VM lifecycle, and performance tuning.
• Implement and manage cybersecurity controls such as vulnerability scanning, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, encryption, backup/recovery, and antivirus.
• Operate Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud services, provisioning resources, managing security, and supporting migration projects.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams) and manage licensing and compliance settings.
• Evaluate and deploy automation or AI tools, develop scripts and workflows to improve monitoring and support.
• Lead moderately complex IT infrastructure projects from planning through post‑implementation support.
• Manage network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, WLAN controllers, APs) and perform firmware updates.
• Provide Tier 2/3 support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals, owning issues through resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Self‑starter with the ability to own moderately complex systems and projects.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently under direction.
