Special Assets Associate

About the role

Blue Owl is seeking a Special Assets Associate to support the management of stressed and underperforming credit investments. You will re‑underwrite actionable credits, assess liquidity, identify drivers of underperformance, and evaluate restructuring, amendment, waiver, and recovery alternatives.

Key responsibilities

• Help manage a portfolio of stressed and underperforming credits, tracking performance, risks, and action plans.
• Re‑underwrite credits with focus on liquidity, drivers of underperformance, corrective measures, and recovery prospects.
• Build and maintain financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate restructuring and recovery options.
• Support value‑maximization strategies for owned portfolio companies, including performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Participate in negotiations with financial sponsors, management teams, banks, and other lenders.
• Draft and coordinate restructuring, amendment, and waiver materials for deal teams and investment committees.
• Synthesize key credit issues and present recommendations in deal team discussions and committee presentations.
• Provide analytical support to senior team members, including ad‑hoc diligence requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related financial discipline with an outstanding academic record.
