Software Engineer

About the role

Uber is looking for a Software Engineer to join its San Francisco team. You will work on building and maintaining core components of Uber’s web ecosystem, collaborating with product teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software applications using Uber’s technology stack.
• Build reusable software components and shared libraries (e.g., Base Web, Go‑Web runtime, internal React tooling).
• Maintain and improve Web CI pipelines and address production reliability issues.
• Profile and optimize performance of shared components and framework layers.
• Support product teams by triaging integration issues, debugging, and updating internal documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience with C++, Python, Java, version control (GIT or SVN), and relational databases (SQL or MySQL).
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to design technology stacks and workflow tools, and to debug production services.
