Senior Information Security Specialist

About the role

Santander is seeking a Senior Information Security Specialist to develop, implement, and maintain security standards, policies, and procedures that protect its systems, networks, and data. The role provides tactical guidance, evaluates emerging technologies, and ensures controls are in place to safeguard critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Promote security awareness through training, communications, and engagement initiatives.
• Develop, enhance, and enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures aligned with industry frameworks and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with global teams to support Business‑As‑Usual security operations and ensure consistent execution of controls.
• Perform independent risk assessments on internal systems and third‑party platforms, covering security, business continuity, and compliance risks.
• Identify control gaps, recommend remediation actions, and track their implementation.
• Support internal and external audits by providing evidence, documentation, and control validation.
• Develop and maintain risk management strategies for new and existing services.
• Monitor security measures, respond to incidents, and report on risk posture and control effectiveness.
• Support Identity & Access Management (IAM) operations, including provisioning, de‑provisioning, role management, and access reviews.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in information security, risk management, and audit support.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Ability to work with global teams and align local activities with enterprise security strategies.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
