Security Specialist – Physical Protection & Investigations

About the role

The Security Specialist will safeguard NASA assets, personnel, and facilities at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. This position combines physical protection, risk assessment, and investigative duties to maintain a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform risk assessments of operations, facilities, and assets to ensure proper implementation of access control, alarm, and surveillance systems.
• Develop, implement, and maintain physical protection procedures and technical methods for NASA facilities.
• Create and track security metrics, maintain a dashboard, and recommend improvements based on quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Serve as an armed NASA Special Agent with federal arrest authority, conducting criminal and administrative investigations.
• Conduct case reviews, surveillance operations, evidence collection, and prepare investigative reports for leadership.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship or allegiance.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑11 level, including analysis and recommendation of physical security plans.
• Ability to obtain any required background investigation or security clearance.
