Public Health Nurse

About the role

The Public Health Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals, families and groups within the community. Working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, the role combines direct patient care with health education and community resource coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate nursing care for individuals, families and groups.
• Train and supervise nursing and auxiliary personnel.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and community partners.
• Function effectively as a member of a treatment team.

Required profile

• Thorough knowledge of current principles, practices and techniques of public health nursing.
• Good knowledge of community resources and administrative organization of community facilities.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and prepare reports and correspondence.
• Strong record‑keeping and communication skills.
• Commitment to the ANA Code of professional nursing practice and sound professional judgment.
