Programme Support Intern (Spring/Summer 2026)

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Programme Support Intern for the Spring/Summer 2026 period. Based in New York, you will support the New York Office in delivering substantive assistance to UN bodies, partners, and internal teams while gaining exposure to urban development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with in‑person and virtual activities, including webinars, online meetings and events.
• Conduct research, collect and analyse data, and draft or review documents on urban‑settlement topics.
• Provide general office support: process correspondence, maintain SharePoint files, and take meeting minutes.
• Support event logistics: prepare agendas, co‑draft background materials, produce meeting reports, and offer technical assistance to moderators.
• Help prepare summaries, participant lists and upload documents to online platforms.
• Contribute to stakeholder‑engagement and partnership programmes, and participate in headquarters events.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate with interest in sustainable urban development.
• Strong analytical, research and written communication abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using SharePoint for file management.
• Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
