About the role
The Programme Planning Officer will join the Operational Planning Service within the Division for Special Activities of the Department of Operational Support in New York. Reporting to a Senior Logistics Officer, the role supports the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of cross‑cutting operational programmes during start‑up, surge, transition, liquidation and crisis phases.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate assigned programmes and projects, monitoring progress and initiating corrective actions.
- Conduct consulting assignments, design plans, coordinate processes across divisions and facilitate workshops to support client change management.
- Research, analyse and present information from diverse sources, contributing to knowledge‑management systems and tracking mechanisms.
- Coordinate policy development, review issues and trends, and contribute to operational guidance, manuals and lessons‑learned documentation.
- Design and manage surveys, create data‑collection tools, analyse responses and provide data‑driven insights for planning and decision‑making.
- Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analyses, report sections and study inputs.
- Provide substantive support for consultative meetings, conferences and agenda setting.
Required profile
- Proven experience in programme/project development, monitoring and evaluation.
- Strong analytical abilities with experience researching and synthesising information from multiple sources.
- Excellent coordination skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders across departments and external partners.
- Experience designing surveys, data‑collection tools and interpreting quantitative results.
- Effective written communication skills for drafting reports, background papers and policy documents.
