Process Engineer – Production Control (Megafactory)

About the role

The Process Engineer will design and execute material‑flow systems that support high‑throughput production at Tesla’s Megafactory. Based in the Greater Houston Area, you will travel extensively to the Bay Area to validate early builds and ensure seamless launch of new facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Packaging, Logistics, Supply Chain, IT, and Material Planning to optimise production control operations.
• Design and model conveyance routes, facility layouts and buffer sizes, identifying bottlenecks and proposing improvements.
• Lead PFEP standardisation across the entire material‑flow value stream.
• Develop and run simulation models (e.g., FlexSim) for receiving, staging and line delivery processes.
• Analyse external‑warehouse to plant material flows, balancing space, cost and service levels.
• Build business cases for automation, touch‑reduction and workforce planning initiatives.
• Create training documentation, job cards, standard work and SOPs.

Required profile

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of material‑flow experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of lean principles, logistics systems and predetermined motion‑time standards.
• Proven ability to work independently and lead improvement projects in a fast‑paced setting.

Required skills

• FlexSim or comparable simulation software.
• Advanced SQL and Python for data mining and analysis.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
