Process Engineer 3 – Decatur

About the role

Primient is seeking an Engineer 3 to join its Decatur plant. The role focuses on optimizing plant operations through process design, troubleshooting, and efficiency improvements, with autonomy to lead complex projects and mentor junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to moderately complex engineering projects, designing and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality while ensuring timely and budget‑compliant delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, operators, and cross‑functional teams, fostering technical expertise within the plant.
• Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and leadership across sites to drive operational consistency, share best practices, and troubleshoot plant‑wide challenges.
• Engage with external partners and vendors to implement solutions that support plant performance.
• Analyze process performance data, identify inefficiencies, and develop independent solutions to optimize energy consumption, material usage, and production throughput.
• Ensure all engineering projects and process changes comply with environmental, safety, quality, sustainability, and internal standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in plant or process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently, lead projects, and manage budgets.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across multiple sites.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards relevant to food and industrial production.
