Power Systems Engineer

About the role

ETAP is looking for a Power Systems Engineer to join its Data Exchange Department in Irvine, CA. The role supports the design, analysis and software development for transmission and distribution power systems, helping customers transition to smarter, greener energy solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Apply engineering and mathematical principles to design, code, and test software components.
• Model transmission and distribution networks and perform power flow, short‑circuit and protection coordination studies.
• Provide technical support to clients via email and phone, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
• Deliver training and knowledge‑transfer sessions to internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• At least 1.5 years experience with electric utility transmission or distribution system design/operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power‑systems focus (Master’s preferred).
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and ability to obtain a California PE license.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce detailed technical reports.

Required skills

• Power‑system analysis software: ETAP, Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, EMTP‑RV, PSCAD, CYME, PSLF.
• GIS, MEP and CAD knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience using AI tools and programming to automate integration workflows.
