Plant Maintenance Technician – Manufacturing

About the role

Join Redwood Farms Meat Processors, a division of Farmers Union Industries, as a Plant Maintenance Technician. You will be responsible for keeping production equipment, facilities, and grounds operating safely and efficiently in our hog processing plant located in Estherville, IA.

Key responsibilities

• Perform weekly, monthly and annual preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Repair, replace or service grinders, augers, pumps, motors and gearboxes.
• Respond promptly to emergency radio calls and minimize equipment downtime.
• Operate skid steers, forklifts, telehandlers and scissor lifts safely.
• Use welding and fabrication tools such as acetylene torches, air plasma cutters and TIG welders.
• Complete building repairs and general handyman tasks as needed.
• Document work orders, submit purchase requests and conduct inventory cycle counts.
• Follow all safety policies, food‑safety regulations and environmental compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with a mechanical or electrical focus.
• Understanding of food‑safety standards while performing maintenance.
• Experience operating heavy equipment (skid steers, forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts) preferred.
• Ability to obtain in‑house equipment certifications upon hire.
• Knowledge of safety procedures such as confined‑space entry.
