Metallurgical Lab Technician

About the role

The Metallurgical Lab Technician supports the laboratory by preparing samples and performing a range of geochemical analyses. This position works with acids, cyanide solutions, and specialized instrumentation to deliver accurate assay results for metallurgical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Weigh, digest and leach samples using acids and sodium cyanide solutions.
• Conduct analyses with atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, LECO combustion, and cold‑vapor atomic absorption equipment.
• Operate grinding ball mills, gravity and flotation machines, balances, pH meters, bottle rolls and perform hand titrations.
• Maintain daily records, logs and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist other laboratory areas such as the column lab and wet lab when required.

Required profile

• Ability to follow specific directions, work safely and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Strong record‑keeping skills with minimal supervision.
• Team‑oriented attitude and effective oral and written communication.
• Positive safety mindset; must pass drug screening, background check and possibly a respirator medical evaluation.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lb, stand up to 8 hours per shift and handle hazardous chemicals (NaCN, HCl, HNO₃, HF, H₂SO₄).
