Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant provides essential grounds‑maintenance support for the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus. Working outdoors in all weather conditions, the role involves routine landscaping, equipment upkeep, and assisting with campus events and emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Mow lawns, edge sidewalks, and perform weed‑eating tasks.
• Maintain and repair sprinkler systems.
• Move furniture, remove trash, and set up spaces for events.
• Respond to on‑call emergencies and perform urgent repairs.
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on a variety of equipment.

Required profile

• Ability to operate tractors, backhoes, zero‑turn mowers, chainsaws, blowers, trimmers and campus vehicles.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in all weather conditions.
• Capability to diagnose equipment issues and perform minor repairs.
