Intelligence Specialist (Operations)

About the role

The Intelligence Specialist (Operations) serves as the senior technical authority for Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and the Cryptologic Support Element (CSE) within a major command. This position provides expert guidance on SOF SIGINT capabilities, policies, and operational concepts, supporting missions across the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the principal technical authority and senior SIGINT advisor for Special Operations Forces.
• Provide authoritative direction on SIGINT capabilities, concepts of operation, and related policy.
• Serve as the recognized subject‑matter expert on all SIGINT activities within the command.
• Advise the Commander SOCSOUTH on SOF SIGINT matters in Latin America.
• Develop and implement innovative solutions to address regional analysis and collection gaps.
• Enhance analytic collaboration across national agencies and SOF elements.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Successful completion of a background investigation, urinalysis screening, and Counterintelligence polygraph.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, both CONUS and OCONUS, on short notice.
• Readiness for extended hours, high‑pressure conditions, and rapid recall for crisis actions.
• Desired language proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Mandarin Chinese.
