About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a motivated Graphic Designer Intern to support the Newcomer Youth Summer Academy (NYSA) yearbook and related design assets. This unpaid, part‑time position runs from May 15 to August 28, 2026 and offers hybrid work with on‑site days at the Summer Academy and the IRC New York office.
Key responsibilities
- Create NYSA 2026 brand assets, including T‑shirt graphics, slide templates, classroom posters, and more, reflecting the annual theme “PRIDE” and core values.
- Develop concepts, layout, and design for the NYSA yearbook, incorporating photos and ensuring a cohesive visual story.
- Insert and label photos, produce print‑ready files, and meet all yearbook deadlines.
- Collaborate regularly with the Yearbook Coordinator, volunteer photographers, and the IRC team to coordinate schedules and integrate feedback.
- Attend NYSA training (June 29 – July 2) and participate in project meetings.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recent graduate of a graphic design program.
- Strong visual communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time across 4‑15 flexible hours per week.
- Interest in humanitarian and youth education initiatives.
