Full-Time Clinical Nurse – MICU (Day Shift)

About the role

The Clinical Nurse provides safe, competent, and evidence‑based care to patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) on a full‑time day shift. Working within Mount Sinai’s Relationship Centered Care model, the nurse integrates assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for a designated group of patients and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care using the nursing process, evidence‑based practice, and organizational standards.
• Assess and prioritize patient needs, develop and update individualized care plans, and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, transitions, health promotion, and disease prevention.
• Perform purposeful hourly rounding, medication review, and discharge wrap‑up activities.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives, identify barriers, and implement process improvements.
• Model compassionate, respectful communication and respond to patient concerns, escalating when necessary.

Required profile

• Current Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in acute or intensive care settings preferred.
• Strong critical‑thinking and clinical judgment skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in applying the nursing process and evidence‑based practice.
• Knowledge of high‑risk medication management and equipment handling.
• Competence in patient education and therapeutic communication.
