About the role
Diagonal is building a platform that personalizes software for SMBs. As a Founding Account Executive you will shape the go‑to‑market engine from day one, working directly with the founders to create a repeatable sales motion.
Key responsibilities
- Own the full SMB sales cycle, from outbound prospecting to closing.
- Source and qualify leads via cold calling, email, LinkedIn, referrals and creative outreach.
- Conduct discovery calls and product demos tailored to each prospect’s workflow.
- Build and maintain a personal pipeline while ensuring strong CRM hygiene.
- Collaborate with founders to refine messaging, positioning and outbound strategy.
- Gather customer feedback to influence product direction and GTM tactics.
- Experiment with outbound tactics and sales processes to improve conversion rates.
Required profile
- 2+ years of experience in SMB outbound sales or account executive roles at a SaaS company.
- Comfortable with consistent prospecting and cold‑calling.
- Strong discovery and demo skills, able to uncover pain points naturally.
- Highly self‑directed, organized and effective in a remote environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Competitive, driven and excited by early‑stage startup dynamics.
- Experience selling vertical SaaS, workflow or operational tools is a plus.
- Prior startup experience, especially at an early stage, is a plus.
