Floating Maintenance Technician

About the role

Greystar is seeking a Floating Maintenance Technician to support its residential properties in the Hampton Roads area of Southern Virginia. The role involves performing technical and mechanical work to keep buildings, grounds, amenities and common areas safe, functional and well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Complete resident‑initiated work orders and perform preventative maintenance, diagnosing defects and repairing according to company policies and code requirements.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant units, including inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor coordination, supply procurement and final quality checks.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies and equipment, tracking usage and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Document service requests accurately and promptly to ensure proper tracking.
• Maintain grounds and common areas by trash removal, pressure‑washing, general cleaning and painting of curbs and signage.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing rather than replacing parts whenever possible.

Required profile

• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders and reach for extended periods.
• Attention to safety standards, building codes and company procedures.
• Strong organizational skills for inventory and documentation management.
