Field Engineer – Flexible Locations

About the role

As a full‑time Engineer you will partner with Fastenal’s sales and branch teams to develop, sell, and implement technical solutions for customers across a defined geographic territory. The role blends technical support, product design assistance, and sales enablement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide exceptional technical support to internal teams and external customers.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers’ engineering and technical staff.
• Identify and bring new sales opportunities to Fastenal.
• Assist customers in product design by offering technical guidance.
• Support sales presentations on areas of expertise.
• Recommend product changes or substitutions that improve function or reduce cost.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving‑record standards.
• Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, or relevant fastener‑industry experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Highly motivated, self‑directed, and customer‑service oriented.
• Strong math aptitude, attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
• Effective organization, planning, and prioritization abilities.
• Comfortable delivering high‑level group sales and product presentations.
• Willingness to travel 50% or more, including overnight trips.
• Commitment to Fastenal’s core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
• Pass required drug screening (US, Puerto Rico, Guam).
