ESOL Instructor

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a part‑time ESOL Instructor to deliver integrated English language instruction to non‑native speakers. This role supports adult learners by combining language lessons with job‑skill, digital literacy, civics, and life‑skill training.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ESOL instruction to mixed‑level classes, adapting lessons for basic to advanced proficiency.
• Plan and prepare curricula that integrate English language learning with workforce preparation.
• Manage community volunteers as classroom assistants and oversee breakout group activities.
• Track student attendance, progress, and assessment data; maintain accurate case notes and records.
• Assist with student recruitment, orientation, registration, and retention efforts.
• Administer English language assessments and document outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience teaching English to adult learners of diverse proficiency levels.
• Ability to develop and tailor curriculum to meet varied student needs.
• Strong organizational skills for record‑keeping and data entry.
• Comfort working with volunteers and facilitating collaborative classroom environments.
