Director of Quality, Accreditation and Compliance

About the role

The University of South Carolina Neurological Hospital is seeking a senior leader to direct its Quality, Accreditation and Compliance program. Reporting to executive leadership, the Director will ensure safe, effective, patient‑centered care through continuous performance improvement and regulatory readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for quality management, patient safety, accreditation and regulatory compliance.
• Develop, implement and monitor quality systems, policies and performance metrics aligned with national best practices and organizational goals.
• Lead organization‑wide initiatives that reduce risk exposure, enhance operational reliability and foster a culture of transparency and Just Culture.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to drive large‑scale performance improvement projects.
• Maintain readiness for accreditation surveys and ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state and accrediting body requirements.

Required profile

• Clinical degree preferred or master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in acute‑care quality management, quality assurance, risk management or regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams and to think strategically about short‑ and long‑term quality improvement.

Required skills

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Extensive knowledge of hospital clinical operations, patient safety, infection prevention and regulatory requirements.
