Director, Medical Affairs

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Director of Medical Affairs to lead all field‑based medical affairs activities for its Pharma portfolio. The role will shape scientific strategy, drive data generation, and ensure high‑impact communication with key customers across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Pharma and Vision Care Medical Science Liaisons.
• Maintain deep clinical knowledge of Alcon’s entire Pharma and Vision Care portfolio.
• Develop and execute KOL mapping, engagement strategy, and regional execution plans.
• Conduct scientific exchanges with US payers to support medical access.
• Oversee investigator‑initiated research, group studies, and clinical trial coordination.
• Lead Alcon’s share of voice at major scientific congresses and ensure effective medical intelligence dissemination.
• Generate customer‑derived clinical insights and support research activities.
• Train MSLs for advisory boards, executive presentations, and data certification.
• Align Pharma and Vision Care scientific interactions with regional business priorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with at least 10 years of relevant medical affairs experience.
• Minimum 6 years of demonstrated leadership of cross‑functional teams.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve scientific and business objectives.
