Database Performance Engineer (Remote, US)

About the role

Seamless.AI is looking for a Database Performance Engineer to join its Engineering Infrastructure team. You will own the health, performance, and reliability of high‑traffic PostgreSQL and OpenSearch clusters, ensuring sub‑second query times and high availability for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize production PostgreSQL and OpenSearch environments.
• Design, implement, and validate backup, restore, and disaster‑recovery processes.
• Analyze slow queries, execution plans, and indexing strategies to improve latency and throughput.
• Lead data modeling, schema design, partitioning, and indexing for large‑scale datasets (1 TB+).
• Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to enhance application‑level data access.
• Monitor database health, replication, storage growth, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and drive root‑cause resolution.
• Recommend architectural and tooling improvements to increase scalability and reduce operational risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience managing and optimizing large‑scale production databases.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineering, DevOps, and security teams.
• U.S. work authorization (no visa sponsorship).

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL in production.
• Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including query tuning and index optimization.
• Deep knowledge of query optimization, execution‑plan analysis, and performance tuning for large datasets.
• Expertise in data modeling, schema design, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
• Experience designing backup, restore, and disaster‑recovery processes.
