Data Scientist – Center for Security and Emerging Technology

About the role

The Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Data Team. The role focuses on building and enhancing data infrastructure, extracting and classifying large bibliometric datasets, and delivering rigorous policy research on emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines and processing workflows for large datasets using Airflow.
• Develop AI‑enabled solutions and advanced modeling techniques to improve data quality and support emerging‑technology analysis.
• Perform data extraction, classification, clustering, annotation, and entity resolution.
• Contribute to the improvement of CSET’s Map of Science and related analytical tools.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and research fellows to produce high‑quality data resources and policy reports.

Required profile

• Strong analytical background with experience in data science research or applied analytics.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary academic environment and communicate findings to policymakers.
