County Extension Agent – Family & Consumer Science/4-H

About the role

The County Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Science/4-H delivers community‑based educational programs that support nutrition, family well‑being, health, food safety, economic self‑sufficiency and youth development across the county.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement practical educational programs in nutrition, health, food safety, and economic self‑sufficiency.
• Engage families, individuals, and youth through workshops, demonstrations, and outreach events.
• Collaborate with local volunteers and community partners to increase program participation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the county’s social, economic, and political characteristics.
• Serve as a liaison between the university’s Extension Service and local stakeholders.
• Collect and report program data to assess impact and guide future initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of community dynamics and the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.
• Experience in developing and delivering educational programs related to family and consumer sciences.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the mission of the Cooperative Extension Service.
