Controls Service Technician II – HVAC Automation

About the role

The Controls Service Technician II is responsible for start‑up, checkout, and troubleshooting of HVAC building automation systems on new construction and retrofit projects. The role involves handling service agreements, emergency calls, and ensuring systems operate efficiently for customers in Kansas and Western Missouri.

Key responsibilities

• Perform controls system inspections, service, and troubleshooting (≈60% of time).
• Load and update product licenses, firmware, panel programming, graphics, IP addresses, and hardware jumpers.
• Document progress in checkout sheets and communicate status to project managers and customers.
• Commission new HVAC DDC BACnet/IP control systems and migrate legacy P2 systems to BACnet.
• Test hardware and software integrations, including I/O testing and alarm messaging.
• Assist with wiring checkout, equipment calibration, and system startups.
• Collaborate with team members to develop technical solutions and stay current with product documentation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated knowledge of moderate programming strategies and principles for building automation.
• Ability to work with minimal guidance on both new construction and retrofit sites.
• Strong customer focus with the ability to resolve issues promptly.
