Construction Electrical Supervisor

About the role

The Construction Electrical Supervisor oversees all electrical aspects of new construction and major renovation projects for the Texas A&M University System. You will ensure that electrical work complies with contract documents, codes, and system standards while supporting project start‑up and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers in interpreting contract documents and verifying electrical work compliance.
• Coordinate start‑up of electrical systems with Project Managers.
• Conduct inspections to confirm proper installation of electrical systems.
• Review drawings and specifications for code compliance and cost effectiveness, recommending alternatives when needed.
• Troubleshoot new and existing electrical systems.
• Evaluate change orders from architects, engineers, or contractors.
• Prepare detailed field reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
• Provide field training to Facilities Planning & Construction staff on electrical construction.
• Approve payments for electrical testing services and arrange high‑voltage testing.
• Coordinate utility outages with appropriate authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum seven years of experience in electrical construction.
• Master Electrician certification or equivalent licensing.
