Community Health Worker – Entry Level Program

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is offering a time‑limited, entry‑level Community Health Worker position to support refugee and immigrant communities. This role combines structured training, supervised field experience, and community outreach to build foundational skills in health education and resource navigation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with outreach activities such as community events, informational sessions, canvassing, outreach calls, and distribution of flyers.
• Promote awareness of health, wellness, and community resources available to refugee and immigrant populations.
• Facilitate culturally and linguistically appropriate communication between community members and IRC Health Program staff.
• Support delivery of basic health education using approved materials on preventive care, vaccination, and healthcare access.
• Collect basic data and provide feedback on outreach materials and activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in public health or related field is a plus.
• Strong interest in community health, humanitarian work, and serving diverse populations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work under close supervision.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills relevant to local refugee communities are beneficial.
