Chemical Engineer – Remote Contract (up to $1,450 per task)

About the role

We are looking for a remote Chemical Engineering expert to create realistic digital workspaces that simulate real-world chemical-process environments. The work will support frontier AI research by providing detailed process models, safety analyses, and operational documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Build a digital workspace based on daily Drive folders, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, PHA/HAZOP reports, mass-and-energy balance models, and OSHA PSM documentation.
• Design multi-step tasks that require navigating multiple applications, files, and stakeholders to challenge AI agents.
• Collaborate with other chemical-engineering experts to define task scope, review scenarios for realism, and ensure technical rigor.
• Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for chemical-process agent benchmarks.
• Contribute directly to AI research and benchmarking that informs how leading labs train and evaluate next-generation AI systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of full-time experience at a Fortune 500 chemical, petrochemical, specialty-materials company or a major engineering/EPC firm.
• Background in process design, simulation, scale-up, plant operations, operations engineering or turnaround planning.
• Experience with process safety analyses (PHA/HAZOP, PSM under 29 CFR 1910.119) and sustainability or emissions compliance.
• Daily use of CHEMKIN, Aspen Plus, ANSYS Fluent, STAR‑CCM+, Siemens Opcenter or Rockwell FactoryTalk.
• Strong analytical thinking and technical writing skills; PE license is a plus.
