Automation Engineer – Robotics & Material Handling

About the role

As an Automation Engineer you will ensure equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon fulfillment centers. You will provide proactive controls automation, technical support, and troubleshoot complex control systems while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to optimize material handling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the site expert for automation systems critical to operations.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus), motor control, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution.
• Monitor material handling equipment (MHE) metrics, partner with maintenance/operations, and analyze performance issues.
• Provide first‑level escalation support for site technicians both locally and remotely.
• Perform and analyze system assessments to enhance material handling performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC programming/automation engineering experience.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting PLC‑based control systems.
• Proficiency with Ladder Logic.
