Auditor II – Internal & District Audits

About the role

The Auditor II will lead audit and investigation activities for district projects and departments, ensuring compliance with policies and financial controls. This full‑time position involves preparing concise reports with actionable recommendations and supporting staff onboarding and training.

Key responsibilities

• Perform audit procedures, define observations, develop criteria, and analyze evidence.
• Conduct interviews, document client processes, and prepare audit reports with corrective recommendations.
• Execute internal audits and investigations for assigned district projects and departments.
• Supervise Auditor I on work products and conduct entrance/exit conferences.
• Review financial records, reports, and operating procedures for compliance with Board of Trustee policy and district guidelines.
• Assess financial operations, controls, record retention, and audit trails to ensure proper fund usage.
• Assist with staff onboarding and training requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
• CPA, CA, CIA, CISA, or CFE certification required.
• Minimum five years of audit experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, internal audit standards, governmental auditing standards, and Texas Education Agency Resource Guide.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
