Associate, Structured Finance – Project Finance Underwriting & Portfolio Management

About the role

The Associate role sits within Santander Corporate & Investment Banking and serves as a front‑office, First Line of Defense credit function. You will support the underwriting, structuring and active management of infrastructure and real‑asset credit exposures, with a focus on renewable energy, energy transition and digital infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and structure new infrastructure and real‑asset transactions, including originations, refinancings, extensions, upsizes and amendments.
• Act as the First Line of Defense credit owner, ensuring complete credit analysis, due‑diligence and documentation in line with Santander credit standards.
• Develop clear credit recommendations that identify key risks, mitigants and structural protections and defend them with the 2nd Line of Defense.
• Lead and support client interactions, manage asset‑level portfolio performance and, when acting as Administrative Agent, coordinate lender groups.
• Build and maintain complex financial models incorporating debt, tax‑equity and equity structures with a focus on operating cash flows.
