Associate Professor & Department Head, Curriculum & Instruction

About the role

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Prairie View A&M University seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as Associate Professor/Professor and Department Head. This senior role will guide faculty, students, and programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels, fostering excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic vision for research, teaching, and service aligned with the university’s strategic plan.
• Manage departmental personnel, course assignments, fiscal affairs, and budget in accordance with college and university policies.
• Oversee program reviews, accreditation efforts, and evaluation of faculty and staff performance.
• Generate grant and research opportunities for faculty and students and make data‑driven decisions.
• Expand and support growth of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
• Enhance recruitment, retention, and external partnerships.
• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses as needed.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate or terminal degree in curriculum and instruction or a related discipline.
• Tenure‑eligible at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor upon appointment.
• Experience in K‑12 teaching and administration, as well as higher‑education leadership.
