Assistant Controller – Automotive Dealership

About the role

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in ensuring accurate financial processing, analysis, and reporting across all dealership departments. This full‑time position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial statements and the overall financial health of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end close by preparing, reviewing, and posting financial statements in line with dealership and manufacturer guidelines.
• Manage daily accounting tasks such as bank deposits, cash reporting, petty‑cash reconciliation, sales entries, and COGS tracking.
• Prepare and review daily bank deposits and cash reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Reconcile selected general‑ledger accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with tax report preparation, tax deposits, and related filings.
• Monitor factory incentives and ensure proper coding of vehicle deliveries in the DMS.
• Prepare sales commission and chargeback detail reports for management.
• Participate in posting adjusting entries and reviewing account balances during month‑end.
• Support annual audit preparation by compiling required documentation and schedules.
• Compile financial and operational reports as requested by management.
• Supervise, train, and support accounting office personnel.
• Analyze and improve accounting procedures and operational workflows.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years experience in automotive dealership office management or accounting.
• Strong understanding of dealership accounting processes, including sales, COGS, and financial statement preparation.
• Prior experience with CDK Dealer Management System (DMS) preferred.
