Adjunct Professor – Special Education (SPED) Endorsement

About the role

The School of Education at North Park University seeks a part‑time Adjunct Professor to teach courses in its Special Education (SPED) LBS1 Endorsement program. The instructor will deliver both undergraduate (3000‑level) and graduate (5000‑level) classes to a diverse urban student body, covering core topics such as teaching exceptional learners, assessment, and instructional methods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver course content for the four required SPED endorsement classes using the university’s approved syllabus template and textbooks.
• Utilize Canvas LMS to post materials, manage assignments, and communicate with students.
• Submit a personalized course syllabus to the dean electronically at least one week before the start date.
• Adhere to the official course schedule and maintain consistent meeting times.
• Assess student performance and provide feedback in accordance with university policies.

Required profile

• Qualified to teach special education at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Experience working with a culturally diverse student population.
• Availability to teach on a term‑by‑term basis with flexible scheduling as determined by the department.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canvas LMS for course management.
