1st Grade Teacher – Lower School

About the role

The O’Neal School in Southern Pines, North Carolina is seeking a dedicated Lower School Teacher for 1st grade, starting August 2026. The role focuses on delivering a curriculum‑aligned instructional program that nurtures each student’s academic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons across core subjects in accordance with The O’Neal School curriculum.
• Assess, record, and report student progress regularly.
• Stay current with educational best practices through reading, research, and professional development.
• Collaborate with the Division Head, fellow teachers, counselors, and support staff.
• Support and sponsor extracurricular activities for students.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
• Previous experience teaching elementary school students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and timeliness.
